Being otherhearted (also sometimes known as otherkith) can mean a variety of experiences, some of which can feel very similar to kin experiences. Essentially, it is identifying with a species (animal or character), whereas kin is identifying as a species. There is usually a very strong emotional and/or spiritual connection, even though you see yourself as a separate being.
